Training leads to ISO certification for crane manufacturer

Superior Crane reaches new heights with training partnership

Organization:

Superior Crane Corporation (SCC) manufactures and supplies components and parts as well as complete crane systems for Material Handling Equipment in USA.

Need:

To implement quality systems leading to ISO certification that will enable the company to gain new business opportunities. ISO it is a standard designed to help organizations ensure that they meet the needs of customers and other stakeholders while meeting statutory and regulatory requirements related to their produced products.

Solution:

Waukesha County Technical College Center for Business Performance Solutions staff proposed an 18-month schedule of employee training for Superior Crane’s machine shop, production, service and parts departments. WCTC instructors provided the training. SCC learned the ISO objectives and documented and standardized their processes. A majority of the company’s 75 employees participated in the training.

Due to the immense size of the training project, WCTC secured two Small Business WAT Grants to help subsidize approximately 2/3 of all training costs – SCC paid the remaining costs.

Results:

Superior Crane Corporation has really experienced a culture change and has embraced the spirit of continuous improvement and dedication to customer satisfaction. The company successfully achieved ISO certification in the targeted areas.
