In the manufacturing environment of today there is a need for technicians who are able to work with electrical and electronic controls, utilize computers and computer-based controls, as well as understand how these controls integrate with hydraulics, pneumatics and other mechanical drive elements to form automated systems. An Electromechanical Technician must have knowledge of automated systems, computers, robots, computer-controlled machine tools, programmable logical controllers, fluid power systems, motors and motor controls and mechanical drives and mechanisms. The Electromechanical Technology program provides the training, both theory and hands-on, necessary to enter this occupation. With this training a graduate will be able to seek employment in a wide variety of well-paying industrial settings, where challenges and new learning experiences occur everyday.
