The Information Technology-Network Systems Administration program trains students to install, maintain, manage and enhance computer networks. Network system administrators have a working knowledge of local-area networks (LANs) and wide-area networks (WANs). They can install and manage networked applications and provide support to end users. They are also familiar with the Internet and its connectivity to LANs and WANs. Responsibilities of network system administrators include managing system and client software, enforcing user account security, backup and disaster recovery plans, operating system and patch upgrades, virus and intrusion detection and complete network ownership. The systems administrator works under the supervision of a computer support manager, a computer services manager or an information systems manager.
