Knowing your Career Cluster can lead to a good fit
Whether you are a high school student trying to decide what career to pursue or someone who took a career path and discovered it wasn’t right for you, the Career Interest Questionnaire can help.
Are you someone who likes to operate machines and keep them in good repair? Maybe you are patient and persistent and enjoy physical sciences. Perhaps you have a strong desire to help others or use your creativity.
In about 10 minutes this online tool will identify a Career Cluster that might be the best fit for you. The online exercise asks about activities you enjoy, personal qualities and school subjects you like. You will receive a list ranking all 16 Career Clusters according to your answers. Higher scores indicate Clusters you are more likely to enjoy.
Each Career Cluster is a group of occupations and industries requiring common knowledge and skills and each has several “pathways” to related careers. For example the Health Science Cluster involves planning, managing, and providing therapeutic services, diagnostic services, health informatics, support services, and biotechnology research and development. The Pathways associated with this cluster are: therapeutic services, diagnostic services, health informatics, support services and biotechnology research and development.
Once you have identified a Career Cluster and have a specific field you would like to explore you can search for educational programs in that Cluster offered by the Wisconsin Technical College System. In the Health Sciences Career Cluster there are 44 educational programs. To help you find the progression of courses, certificates and degrees leading to a certain career visit the Wisconsin Career Pathways website.
